Avid bike riders know how braking effects can fade on a long descent. Overheating of brake pads can cause damage to the brakes, a swelling of the material in places causing inconsistent contact, and change at the molecular level of the pad material causing “chatter.” A braking rotor is available to combat the effects of heat in brakes. The SM-RT86 rotor employs an aluminum core that effectively transfers heat buildup away from the brakes.
