Summer Games II allows up to eight people to participate in a limited version of the traditional spectacle of the Summer Olympics by offering eight different events including the triple jump, javelin toss, fencing, equestrian event, kayaking, rowing, cycling and high jump. Players choose how many events to play and select one of eighteen countries to represent. Opening (replete with doves) and closing ceremonies mark the beginning and end of the festivities.<br><br>Each event requires you to master a different set of controls and skills, such as timed joystick movements or frenetic button presses. Depending on your performance, you're awarded a gold, silver or bronze medal. As an added incentive, you can also attempt to best the world records in each event and have your name displayed on the World Records screen.<br><br>The overall objective is to be the country with the most medals at the end of the games. Scoring the most points individually earns the honor of being named Grand Champion -- gold medals are worth five points, silver three and bronze one.
