I fell in love with coloured glass as a child: vintage glass ornaments on the Christmas tree, harlequin coloured stem hock glasses on the dinner table, the stained glass windows in my aunts Edwardian home. My other aunt’s home was pure mid century modern and I much preferred it to my parents more Laura Ashley taste and these influences combined in my passion for Mid Century glass.
This little shop was born from my desire to collect and handle as much glass from the mid 20th Century (art-deco through to the swinging 60s) as possible without overwhelming my home with clutter. I have a “one in one” out rule which means when I buy something new, an existing piece (apart from a few treasures) has to go. I love not only the designs and colours but the history. The beauty that mass production brought into the homes of ordinary people by making glass objects affordable for all and the times these pieces lived through in the homes of people who experienced the depression and two world wars.
