Über uns
We sell Cypress Knees we harvest from our swamp land in NC. They are cone-shaped and grow up from the roots of the tree. They are especially sought after by carvers and painters. Other uses include bases for lamps, table legs, floral backdrops, wood burning and many other crafts. The knees regrow quite quickly and are ready for re-harvest in about 2 years. Some grow as high as 4', but we seldom harvest any over 3'. The shorter "tips" have become popular as Christmas tree ornaments. Taller ones are carved and painted into beautiful Santas and gnomes.
Harvesting Cypress knees requires a knowledge of their environment and involves the risk of injury. An encounter with a poisonous water moccasin, alligator or black bear is very possible as is injury by the continuous use of a chainsaw in a precarious position where a good foothold is not always possible.
