  Picking the correct adhesive and cure time is the secret to success. I used a 2 part plastic epoxy and two short screws to attach the part. Earlier attempts with super glue, Plastic gels, E6000 and other products did not hold well. I installed screws after the epoxy hardened. The part is in shear when open so the screws take the tension. Small bolts would work better, but you would have to remove some of the covering to get the nuts under and then reattach the cover.
