  Additional protective padding has been utilized in this one that wasn't used in an older one I'd purchased for our 7 year old autistic grandson. It's also comfortable enough for him to wear it all day without throwing a temper tantrum. Of course my next statement hasn't been proven by medical experts but we feel it's safer than the helmets with a hard shell and it has provided adequate protection from seizure related falls. We're satisfied with our purchase!
