Clip earring often pinch the ears, but these do not. The problem is in the quality. The earrings have an attractive enamel finish, but one of them arrived with a significant chip in the enamel, exposing the white material underneath. I really just didn't want to try to return the item, too much trouble; so I decided to color it with permanent marker. This did salvage it.
