I have re-foamed many speakers and it's pretty easy when you can remove the dust cap. These have aluminum chambered center caps so you shouldn't cut them out, not to mention it would be very difficult. This kit doesn't come with new ones so that should tell you not to cut out your old ones. The outer part of the surrounds should have been a bit larger, they barely reach.
