  Battery is overheating, literally burning when it's on my lap. Doesn't matter if it's charging or not. I'm not sure if it's safe to use. Overall condition was okay.

As you're still within the returns period, you're still welcome to open a return request. I would advise that if the MacBook is burning hot, is it not safe to use.
