  Varney’s Northeastern Steel Caboose is an attractive rendering of a classic caboose. Many railroads used the Reading Railroad model as a basis of their own cabooses. This model features X2F ‘horn hook’ couplers and spring equalized trucks. It is readily upgraded by cutting out the coupler pocket and body mounting Kadee #5 couplers. The metal trucks can be upgraded with replacement axle sets. Roof ladders and brush painting the handrails makes it possible to own an attractive caboose.
