  The item is brand new, and it came as gift sent from Amazon. The experience with Paul K, the seller, was good. The item is of terrible quality. At any price they are expensive. The flats are not even parallel to the soft steel jaws, which are full of sharp edges all around In opening and closing the pliers, when testing them, i ended up with my finger pinched in between the handles. I purchased these to replace my 40 yo flat nose pliers, with which I never had an issue like this.
