Great idea and solution for a wardrobe (closet) space but let down by two design faults
Imported USA to UK for me and that worked well and the installation kit worked well on my plasterboard walls, really good nail & plug set so my completely empty "8ft" wardrobe in a new property could finally be used and the racks take a proper weight without falling down. But I had to make an unexpected special adaption and ended up with an unwanted wall hole. Maybe 8ft wardrobes are exactly that in the USA but builders being what they are in the UK it was about that at ground level but higher up it widened to 8ft 1in or perhaps even 8ft 2in. The design could easily have taken that into account with shelves an extra 1in or 1.5in rather than expecting me to buy a 10ft model and cut it down. I had to add a thick wooden block securely to the left-hand wardrobe wall to fit, based on the kit's maximum extension. The other design fault (and I followed instructions very carefully and rechecked so am 90% sure it applies more generally) applies to the left-hand long shelf as seen in the picture (my wardrobe installed the same). If you drill the holes and fit the hooks as shown in the leaflet you cannot fit the left-hand shelf, it conflicts with the end of the shelf. I had to take out the far left hook holding the shelf and re-drill/refit one inch to the right. So I had ten minutes of wasted time and an unwanted extra hole in my wall. The installation leaflet was OK but not brilliant, I used to write technical info myself so have high standards. US, UK, Australasian and European suppliers should get an advantage over the far East by having Youtube installation videos online and cross-referencing them in the leaflet. It doesn't have to be an actor to do that, just someone who knows the product well and is competent with the tools and measurements necessary. From experience that's needed for many self-assembly kits sold, even simpler ones, I can only get proper results after learning from poorer work in the past.
