There was NOBODY like Alex Harvey
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich If you like Bruce Springsteen, you sure will not understand Alex Harvey. Even though they both 'represent' the working class rock music genre, Alex was a seasoned singer, an unusually gifted composer, guitarist, mentor, trumpet player and percussionist. A man who's messages in his lyrics had a wider range than a thousand band's songs. And unlike Springsprung, Alex did not look like he was taking a massive dump in his knickers whilst singing his heart out.
AC/DC eventually admitted they owed their sound to the Sensational Alex Harvey band. As did the Cure, Cheap Trick and others. Even Deep Purple, the Rolling Stones and original punk rock bands have addressed the fact that Alex was WAY ahead of his time and a primary if not pivotal influence, at least as to why it IS important to NOT be derivative.
Alex taught many how to be perfectly comfortable, 5 steps to the left of anyone and kick the asses off of contrived, manufactured, syrupy yet financially more successful 'musical' acts, he taught people how to CHANGE music.
There were so many recordings (LP's) by Alex over the decades, that a person could try an Alex Harvey Band CD out but not find the one that truly represented what he was capable of or truly after.
THIS video production, answers complex questions precisely. It clarifies Alex's strengths, weaknesses, inimitability.
This is a MUST HAVE viddy for proper human experience.
By simply witnessing Alex's refusing to accept that there are ANY limits in music and expression, you will see why he won the invisible, but most coveted award of all- absolute, unconditional love for his colossal heart, with his vision of what and how to ask a band to play, his band itself, and why it is PARAMOUNT to be yourself and create love, and love in the face of serious danger.
Possibly strange words for a rock band, so just buy this video, and be amazed. His work can change you forever.
Trust me, I had the opportunity to play w/ the Frank Zappa band. Some people call Alex "Europe's Zappa". But make no mistake, Frank can teach a brain incredible musical maneuvers. FABULOUS MOVIE!!
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich A MUST see movie for a proper human experience. Produced in the late 1970's/1980's, was pulled from shelves and TV 'cause of music copyright/royalties disputes. AMAZING!! Tell ALL 420 of your friends!!! Very ironic to see it now.
