Damaged & repairable 2003 Camry (no airbag deployment)
Buying damaged cars is not that difficult. It is best to be patient and wait for the right one to come along. I have 30 years of experience in this field so I know what I am looking at and can be confident in my decisions. I will not buy a car that has had the airbags deployed. It is too time consuming and costly to fiddle with bag replacement. I will not buy a car that I have not personally inspected before bidding. I accept responsibility for my errors and learn from my mistakes. I will not pay more that the car is worth. If the bidding gets beyond my limit, I walk away. From my experience with these types of cars, trying to pick the color is less important than getting the right one with repairable damage that will not cause problems in the future. If a person thinks that they can shop around and get exactly what they want, this is often when they buy the wrong car. The primary objective for me is to determine: "Is this car economically repairable?" The options and colors are second. I am always looking for a deal on a Toyota. I spotted this 47,000 mile minor damaged Camry on aBay. It was near me, and the air bags did not deploy in the accident. I went to look at it before bidding. After the repairs, my total investment is half the current loan value. Having a background in auto body repair is essential as my personal labor time is where much of the savings is. Being able to locate second-hand parts, and getting a good discount on new parts helps as well. Yes, it has a rebuilt title now, but when I am done driving it at 150,000 miles, the title won't be an issue. This is the XLE model with the four cylinder. Exactly what I was looking for. I have been driving Toyotas for 20 years, you just can't go wrong and they have terrific resale value.
