Czech Avante-garde, an art movement worth revisiting
Czech Avant-Garde movement is underrated. There are so much energy within the "Bohemian" attitude that is so unique to the Czech nation. I have been to Prague and was amazed with the many museums dedicated to art and modern art movements. from Národní galerie Praha complex, Museum Kampa, Franz Kafka Museum, to The Mucha Art Deco museum.
New Formations : Czech Avant-Garde Art and Modern Glass is one of those art books that attempts to give as much information to art scholars. It is an impossible task. I bought a set of 8 books from the National Gallery just to have a catalog of their collection. There is just so much material regarding Czech avante-garde movement. This book is not definiitive but serves a purpose of an expanded "art sampler". The essays and writing is informative and interesting and will definitely entice the reader to dig deeper into the movement.
Moreover, the material that is in the book is hard to come by here in the US. I am happy to have this book in my collection. It is a great reference material for my own creation and researches.

New Wave Gems
This 3 Disc collection of covers of New Wave Classics, live tracks, alternative versions is a great set to have. I really liked the Level 42 live version of "Something About You" and Modern English's " I Melt With You". Moreover, Shiny Toy Guns cover of Depeche Mode's "Stripped" and Tiffany's ballad rendition of Alphaville's "Forever Young " are classic tracks in itself.
This was not a disappointing CD. I am glad to add this to my collection.
