American Scout C-2 Cargo Ship Handmade Wooden Ship Model 50" RC Convertible
26. Mär. 2017
Best deal ever.!!
If you are a ship lover, enthusiast, ship modeler or marine artist Then the name "American scout" will immediately peak your interest. Ever since "Sterling" a model kit maker stoped making a kit of the ship, its value continues to rise. Very rarely you will see one on e-bay as the kit and even more rarely seen would be a finished model, half the time the quality would be poor or the model damaged beyond recovery, now even more rare is the fittings kit. SO.... you can imagine my surprise to see a super well made ship, brand new, well made with better quality woods than the original. The model I bought is identical to the old Sterling kit only made up and finished with an impeccable paint job, it has prop shaft ready to receive motor, battery, speed controller, and radio gear and you are off. I chatted with the manufacturer who is responsible for the ship collection and found him knowledgeable and very enthusiastic to share this passion that you get caught up in while on the phone. If I were you, I would check them out and get one of the models before the rush and more importantly they raise the prices!!!! They make models of some of the most beautiful ships to have sailed like the Andrea Doria, QE2, queen Elizabeth etc packing was very good and it arrived at my dock in great condition, strapped down in a crate in a heavy cardboard box. Do not miss out, have a look today.

Dental Air Turbine Opened Standard Push 4 Holes High Speed Handpiece Promotion
11. Aug. 2016
Strange use.
I purchased this hand piece to use as a steam turbine in a very small scale ship model. Guess what! It works very well, far surpassing my expectations. I removed the turbine and placed it in brass tubing with an extended steam input line, and a larger exhaust for the spent steam. It runs smooth and true, The noise level of the item prior to my "messing" with it and running on compressed air was acceptable as per my limited experience in dentistry, many people can heave a big relieving breath now!!
William Frederick's Scale Journey: Scratchbuilders Development Model Ships
19. Feb. 2016
A million techniques. One book
Well, from some of the descriptions of this book I was a little concerned, the main issue stated was the book read like a bunch of magazine articles, no flow etc. Pleasantly surprised !! The book did read like a grouping of articles and that is exactly how I read some tech books. After a quick review I then return to a chapter that got my attention, the big issue for me was what to read first! This book is or appears to be a collection of the Authors cool techniques or methods found out over his ship building career, all wrapped up in the finished construction of a scratch built tall ship that is fully operational under remote control ( the "William Frederick' of 1874). All through the book he shows us the techniques he has developed over the years, showing that you do not need cash to get started, you can build some effective and efficient construction tools from junk!!! i.e. Rope walk made from an old Remington electric razor (he then shows his latest rope walk and how he solved problems and issues along the way. In this manner the whole book is presented in clear easily understood (not to technical) blocks. these included the following chapters:1. choosing the right ship. 2 why scale working models. 3 manual and power tools 4. Building mediums adhesives and paints. 5. Planning the scale ship yard. 6. Home made tools and gadgets. 7. Anchors and anchor cables. 8. Masts yards shackles and thimbles. 9. Sail making. 10. Rebels Saga. 11 Mass producing molded blocks. 12. casting techniques. 13. Making Patent block. 14. Making old style wooden blocks with strops. 15. Barrels Casks and spoon shaped objects. 16. Fiberglass hulls. 17 Building the William Frederick. 18. William Frederick's deck detail. 19 William Frederic's Ironwork. 20 William Frederick's Standing rigging. 21. Remaining standing and running rigging. 22. Final touches. A great addition to anyones nautical or modeling library. Every single page is loaded with clear well taken photographs and diagrams. I recommend this book whole heartily.
