Just don't bother!
I had recently come to understand God's goodness in a real and new (to me) way, that has transformed the way I understand Hell (as in NOT God's eternal torture chamber), the universal aspect of the gospel (as in......how about, at least the HOPE that everyone will make it). So this book's title caught my attention, and I thought it would be a half-way scholarly work on the subject of Hell. But no, this guy has let his bad experiences with modern (western) Christianity embitter him so badly that he writes this book denouncing God altogether. Or I should say, his idea of God...wrathful, disappointing, and far less merciful than you and I...I mean a customized eternal torture chamber???) Yet, even though hell is NEVER mentioned in the bible, but only a translators insertion for the words gehenna, hades, sheol, and tartarus, it has become the lynchpin of western christianity. None of that means there is not God, or that Jesus did not or does not exist. Anyway, because of the title, I thought I might be getting a thoughtful book on the subject, but I only read half of it becuase really early on, I knew that this poor guy was so blind and ignorant. However..... I was dumb enough to buy this book! So I'm not so smart either!

Smaller than you would think
Is about 5 by 7 inches, and that is pretty small! But it is really fat. And the pages are super thin. I guess the pages would have to be thin in order to stuff two whole bibles in this. I was just expecting it to be a bit larger in height and width, and then it would not appear to be so thick. I wouldn't dare try to use a highlighter on this baby! That's some thin pages! It would go right through to the other side. But as to the way it is laid out, I do like that! You can easily see the english and the Indonesian side by side. My Indonesian is really rusty, so this is a really great way to read your bible and brush up on you language at the same time!
